Due Diligence
Due diligence should always be conducted prior to purchasing or selling a property, operation or other asset.
It is of paramount importance to know what you are buying or selling. One area that can be easily overlooked is the environmental aspects of a property. Are there fatal environmental flaws with the project? Is the project operating within the requirements of the regulations or permits? These are some of the questions that should be asked prior to investing in a project. Some of the activities conducted under due diligence include:
Adequacy of permits
Compliance status and history
Environmental cost evaluation
Reclamation evaluation (cost and feasibility)
Transferability of permits
Environmental or socioeconomic issues or limitations
Fatal flaw analysis
